What after-school clubs, youth clubs, and childcare options exist in Gibraltar?

Question

Accepted Answer

The Gibraltar Youth Service runs four youth clubs (Plater, Dolphins, Laguna and the Youth Centre on Line Wall Road), while sports associations, school clubs and private providers cover after-school activities and childcare. Holiday programmes are run by the Youth Service and the Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority.
Gibraltar Youth Service
The Government's Youth Service operates four clubs: Plater Youth Club, Dolphins Youth Club, Laguna Youth Club and the Youth Centre on Line Wall Road. Clubs run evening open sessions, arts, crafts and cooking workshops, trips and a Young Leaders Programme. In April 2026 the Peter J. Isola Foundation began funding a refurbishment of the Youth Centre, Plater and Dolphins clubs. Opening times are published at youth.gi.
Sport
Most organised activity for children runs through Gibraltar's sports associations and clubs, covering football, basketball, swimming, athletics, gymnastics, sailing and many others. Facilities are concentrated around the Victoria Stadium and the Europa Sports Complex. The Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority (GSLA) runs summer programmes, which have included arts, crafts and cooking workshops for children aged seven to twelve in partnership with the Youth Service.
School-based clubs
Government and private schools run their own lunchtime and after-school clubs. Provision varies by school and is communicated directly to parents. Duke of Edinburgh's Award programmes run through several secondary settings.
Childcare and wraparound care
Government schools do not provide universal wraparound childcare. Working parents typically rely on private nurseries offering after-school collection, childminders, extended family, or a combination with paid activities. Private providers are registered with the Department of Education.
Special needs
PossAbilities runs after-school clubs and activities for children and young people with special educational needs.
