Does Gibraltar have its own national anthem?

Short answer

Yes. The Gibraltar Anthem, with words and music by Peter Emberley, was adopted in 1994. God Save the King remains the official national anthem, as in the UK and other British Overseas Territories.

Detailed answer

The Gibraltar Anthem serves as Gibraltar's own territorial anthem. Peter Emberley, born in 1955, wrote both the words and the music, and it was adopted in 1994.

It is sung publicly at National Day celebrations on 10 September each year. God Save the King continues to be Gibraltar's official national anthem, as it is across the United Kingdom and the other British Overseas Territories.

The Gibraltar Anthem is a different piece from Rock of Ages, a song written by Ronnie Bridges and Brian Willey and first performed in 1970. The Gibraltar Chronicle notes that Rock of Ages was regarded at the time as a national anthem for Gibraltar, which is a common source of confusion.
