Are there guided walking tours of Gibraltar’s old town?

Short answer

Yes. Blands Travel runs a 90-minute walking tour from Grand Casemates Square, the Gibraltar Heritage Trust runs seasonal guided walks of Main Street and the old town, and licensed guides offer private and tip-based walks.

Detailed answer

Blands Travel offers a Gibraltar Walking Tour lasting about one and a half hours. It starts at 10:00 from Grand Casemates Square, where it also ends, and covers the City Walls, the old part of town, Main Street, The Convent and Trafalgar Cemetery. It is sold through online booking platforms.

The Gibraltar Heritage Trust runs guided walks led by local historians, usually in seasonal series. In summer 2026 it held 90-minute evening walking tours on Thursdays from July to August, meeting at The Main Guard, 13 John Mackintosh Square, with tickets sold through BuyTickets.gi. Earlier in 2026 it ran "A Walk Back in Time" tours of the northern end of Main Street, from Casemates to the Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned, and it has previously run Main Street tours with historian Dr Ryan Asquez at £10 for non-members and £5 for members. Booking is essential; check the Trust's events calendar or contact its shop on +350 20042844 or [email protected].

Tip-based walks are also advertised online. One example is a two-hour "Gibraltar Explained" walk in English and Spanish led by a licensed local guide, starting in Casemates Square and finishing at the statue of Admiral Nelson, passing Landport Gate, Irish Town, the war memorials, the Parliament, both cathedrals, the Convent and Trafalgar Cemetery. You pay what you think is fair at the end.

You can also hire a licensed guide privately. Whichever option you choose, a licensed guide should be wearing a numbered badge.

If you would rather explore the Rock itself on foot, Walk Gibraltar runs a separate three-hour guided walk around the Upper Rock.
