Detailed answer
Oosterdam was built by Fincantieri at Marghera in Italy and made its maiden voyage in August 2003. Holland America gives a gross tonnage of 82,305, a length of 936 feet (about 285 metres), 1,964 guests at double occupancy (2,587 maximum) and a crew of 812. Restaurants include the Pinnacle Grill, Canaletto and Morimoto By Sea, and the ship has the Crow's Nest lounge, the World Stage theatre and the Neptune Lounge for suite guests. It was last refurbished in October 2019. Oosterdam is the first ship chosen for Holland America's Evolution refit in Marseille, starting in September 2027, which adds new suites, solo verandah cabins and a Grand Dutch Cafe; it returns to service on Sunday 31 October 2027.
How busy will town be?
The upcoming visits listed on this page show the passengers expected on each call and any other ships in port the same day. Town is busiest when several ships are in at once or a large ship arrives at a weekend. A ship carrying a few hundred passengers makes little difference on its own.
Can you sail on it from nearby?
Yes, from Barcelona. The November 2026 call falls during a 14-night crossing from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale leaving on Wednesday 4 November 2026. The ship returns on a 14-night crossing from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona from Friday 9 April 2027, then spends summer 2027 on Mediterranean voyages from Barcelona to Piraeus, Civitavecchia and Trieste. After its refit Holland America lists a seven-day Piraeus to Barcelona sailing from Sunday 21 November 2027 and a 13-day crossing from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale from Sunday 28 November 2027.
