What supermarkets are in Gibraltar and can you get UK brand groceries?

Short answer

Gibraltar's main food retailers include Morrisons on Westside Road, Eroski City, the Marks & Spencer food hall on Main Street and smaller grocers such as Coviran, alongside the Gibraltar Public Market. UK brands remain widely available, although since the UK-EU treaty took provisional effect on 15 July 2026 some British lines have been affected by EU labelling and customs requirements.

Detailed answer

The main options

  • Morrisons, Westside Road: the largest supermarket, with a broad UK range.
  • Eroski City: Spanish franchise with fresh bakery, butchery and deli counters.
  • Marks & Spencer, Main Street: food hall with its own UK range.
  • Coviran and other convenience stores across town and the estates.
  • Gibraltar Public Market near Casemates for fresh produce.

The effect of the treaty

Since 15 July 2026, goods sold in Gibraltar must meet EU standards. Morrisons reviewed around 20,000 lines and warned of possible short-term gaps in some British products, while expanding its local and regional range.

Prices

Food is zero rated under the new transaction tax. Fresh produce in particular tends to cost more than across the border in Spain, so many residents shop on both sides.

Practical points

Hours are shorter on Sundays and public holidays. Check individual stores for current hours and delivery options.
