Can I visit or watch the Gibraltar Parliament?

Question

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Gibraltar Parliament meets in the historic Parliament building on Main Street, beside John Mackintosh Square, and the public can watch sittings from the public gallery. Proceedings have also been televised since 2011.
The Gibraltar Parliament has 17 elected members and sits in a building completed in 1817 as the Exchange and Commercial Library, overlooking Main Street and John Mackintosh Square (known locally as the Piazza). It later housed the Legislative Council and the House of Assembly before becoming the seat of the Gibraltar Parliament under the 2006 Constitution. Members of the public can attend sittings in the public gallery, and access improvements have been made for people with reduced mobility. Since 2011 proceedings have been televised, and transcripts (Hansard) are published online. Sitting dates and agendas are published on parliament.gi. The building's pink façade is also worth seeing from outside, opposite the City Hall.
