What are the main attractions in Gibraltar?
Short answer
Gibraltar's best-known attractions include the Upper Rock Nature Reserve with St Michael's Cave, the Barbary macaques, the Great Siege Tunnels and the Skywalk. Since its official opening on 17 September 2026, Europa Point Trinity Lighthouse (marketed as Gibraltar Lighthouse) has also been open to visitors through tours run by the Gibraltar Heritage Trust.
Detailed answer
Most visitors start with the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, which brings together St Michael's Cave, the Barbary macaques, the Great Siege Tunnels and the glass-floored Skywalk. At the southern tip of Gibraltar, Europa Point Trinity Lighthouse was officially opened to the public at a ceremony on 17 September 2026. Built in 1841 and still a working aid to navigation, it is the only Trinity House lighthouse outside the British Isles. The Gibraltar Heritage Trust runs the visitor experience on behalf of Trinity House, with guided tours to the Lantern Room, self-guided full-access visits and ground-floor base entry. Tickets are sold at gibraltarlighthouse.com. Europa Point also has several other heritage sites within walking distance, including Harding's Battery, the General Sikorski Memorial, Nun's Well and the Shrine of Our Lady of Europe, so the lighthouse combines easily with a wider visit to the area.
