When is the official bathing season in Gibraltar?

Short answer

Gibraltar's Official Bathing Season runs from the second Saturday in June to mid-September, when beach services such as the Beach Accessibility Service and Changing Places toilets operate at set hours.

Detailed answer

The Official Bathing Season is set by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Climate Change, which manages Gibraltar's beaches. It starts on the second Saturday in June and ends in mid-September. In 2027 that means the season opens on Saturday 12 June 2027.

During the season, the Beach Accessibility Service operates at Catalan Bay (11:00 to 19:00 on weekdays, 10:30 to 19:30 at weekends and on bank holidays), Eastern Beach (12:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, 11:00 to 20:00 at weekends and on bank holidays) and Camp Bay (12:30 to 20:30 on weekdays, 11:30 to 20:30 at weekends and on bank holidays). Trained attendants help people with restricted mobility into the sea using amphibious chairs, hoists and sand walking aids.

Changing Places toilets are open daily during the season at Eastern Beach (09:30 to 20:30), Camp Bay (09:30 to 21:00) and the Gibraltar Bathing Pavilion (10:00 to 20:00).

The hours above are those published for the 2026 season and may be revised for 2027.

Gibraltar's beaches are small and popular with residents, so expect them to be busy at weekends and during the school summer holidays.
