Can I pay in euros in Gibraltar?

Short answer

Most shops and restaurants accept euros, but prices are set in pounds and the exchange rate offered is often less favourable than at a bank or bureau de change. Change is usually given in pounds.

Detailed answer

Paying by card in pounds sterling is usually the simplest option, and major cards are widely accepted. If a card terminal offers to charge you in euros, choosing pounds normally avoids a poor conversion rate set by the merchant.

The Treaty has not changed Gibraltar's currency.
