What can I see in Gibraltar in half a day from a cruise?
Short answer
With about four hours, take a taxi Rock tour of the Upper Rock to see St Michael's Cave, the macaques and the Skywalk, then finish on Main Street or in Casemates Square. The cable car is closed until 2027, so the Rock has to be done by taxi or on foot.
Detailed answer
A realistic four-hour plan Take a licensed taxi Rock tour from the rank outside the cruise terminal. Tours usually stop at St Michael's Cave, the Apes' Den and the Skywalk, and the driver will often include Nature Reserve entry in the price. Ask to be dropped in town at the end, then spend the remaining time on Main Street and in Casemates Square for food and souvenirs. Walk back to the terminal, about 15 to 20 minutes from Casemates Square, leaving a comfortable margin before all-aboard. Why not the cable car The cable car closed on Tuesday 18 November 2025 for a rebuild and is expected to reopen in 2027. Walking up is possible, but it is steep and takes too long for most short port calls. If you would rather skip the Rock Gibraltar National Museum, just off Main Street, for history and the Neanderthal story. Europa Point, at the southern tip, for views across the Strait to Africa. A dolphin trip from the marina, which typically lasts about 75 minutes. Costs and hours Nature Reserve entry is £30 for adults and £22 for children aged 5 to 11, with under-5s free. From October to April the reserve opens from 09:00 to 18:15, with last entry at 17:45.
