Detailed answer

Wind Surf was built at Le Havre in France and completed in 1989. It was first named La Fayette, sailed as Club Med 1 from 1990, and has belonged to Windstar Cruises since 1998. Windstar gives a gross tonnage of 14,745, a length of 187 metres including the bowsprit, 342 guests and a crew of 213. Windstar calls it its flagship sailing yacht, with five masts and seven computer-operated sails, and all dining included. On board are Stella Bistro, Amphora and the Yacht Club Cafe, new Broadmoor and Sea Island suites, a spa and a water-sports marina. The first phase of a refit was carried out at Navantia in Cadiz in late 2024, and a second phase is due to finish in December 2026.

How busy will town be?

The upcoming visits listed on this page show the passengers expected on each call and any other ships in port the same day. Town is busiest when several ships are in at once or a large ship arrives at a weekend. A ship carrying a few hundred passengers makes little difference on its own.

Can you sail on it from nearby?

Yes. The November 2026 call falls during an eight-night voyage from Barcelona to Lisbon leaving on Friday 30 October 2026, and the same route runs from Thursday 28 October 2027. On Saturday 5 December 2026 Wind Surf leaves Lisbon to cross the Atlantic to St Maarten, and on Sunday 11 April 2027 it sails from Lisbon to Tarragona on an eight-night voyage.
