Can I hire an e-bike or do a cycling tour in Gibraltar?

Short answer

Yes. EBike Gibraltar, based at Imperial Ocean Plaza in Ocean Village, offers guided e-bike tours and rentals, with tours listed by the Gibraltar Tourist Board at £69 per adult.

Detailed answer

Gibraltar's steep roads make conventional cycling hard work, which is why electric bikes have become a popular way to explore. EBike Gibraltar was set up in July 2019 and offers tours and rentals. Its guides are officially licensed by the Gibraltar Tourist Board, speak English as a first language and carry first-aid training. German and Spanish-speaking guides can be requested.

Tours listed by the Tourist Board are:

The Rock Around Tour, which follows the west coast defences to Europa Point and returns along the east coast road, passing King's Bastion, Nelson's Anchorage, the Gorham's Cave viewing platform and Catalan Bay.

The Rock To The Top Tour, which climbs into the Upper Rock to sites including the Windsor Suspension Bridge, St Michael's Cave, O'Hara's Battery, the Skywalk, the Apes' Den and the Moorish Castle.

The Rock Private Tour, for groups of up to 10 people, lasting a minimum of two hours on an existing or bespoke route.

All tours include a Riese & Müller e-bike, a helmet, safety instruction, live commentary from an official guide and mineral water. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 14:00. Bookings are through ebike-gibraltar.com, on +350 56004948 or at [email protected].

The Tourist Board's own two-day itinerary suggests renting an e-bike or joining an e-bike tour as an alternative to a taxi tour of the Upper Rock. The cable car closed on Tuesday 18 November 2025 for a full rebuild and is not expected to reopen until 2027.
