Is there a shuttle bus from Gibraltar cruise port to town?
Short answer
Gibraltar's port and Tourist Board do not publish a public shuttle timetable from the cruise terminal, so any shuttle is arranged for your ship on the day. The terminal is within walking distance of Casemates Square and Main Street, and taxis wait at the terminal when ships are in port.
Detailed answer
Cruise ships berth at the Cruise Terminal on the North Mole, close to the city. The Gibraltar Tourist Board's cruise handbook describes the berths as walkable from town, with shuttles and taxis on standby and the central sights within walking distance. Whether a shuttle runs, and whether it is free, depends on your cruise line and its local agent, so check the ship's daily programme before you go ashore. Most passengers walk. The route runs from the terminal through the port area to Casemates Square at the northern end of Main Street, where you will also find a taxi stand. The Tourist Board describes the wayfinding from the terminal as clear. Our separate guides to walking from the cruise terminal cover the route and timing in more detail. The Tourist Board runs an information office inside the terminal, open whenever a vessel is in port (+350 200 47671). The terminal has wide corridors, accessible toilets, a low-level information counter with a hearing induction loop, and a wheelchair can be requested for help around the terminal area. Licensed taxis serve the terminal on ship days, and there are also taxi stands at Casemates Square, the Anglican Cathedral and Trafalgar Cemetery, plus a 24-hour radio taxi service on +350 200 70027. Taxi Rock tours are the usual way to see the Upper Rock in a short call. Once in town, Gibraltar's public buses are run by the Gibraltar Bus Company and Citibus. A Hopper ticket gives unlimited travel on all routes of both operators between 08:00 and 21:00 on the day you use it. Useful routes for visitors include 2 for Europa Point, 2, 9 and 10 for Trafalgar Cemetery and the Botanic Gardens, and 4 and 8 for the eastern beaches. The Gibraltar Cable Car closed on Tuesday 18 November 2025 for a rebuild and is not operating in 2026. For the Upper Rock, the Nature Reserve Shuttle Bus runs from Market Place to Queen's Balcony for £40 per person, including entry to the Gibraltar Nature Reserve, with an optional return pick-up from the Queens Road picnic area.
