Can I get a yellow fever, travel vaccine or specialised immunisation in Gibraltar?
Short answer
The GHA provides routine immunisations, including the childhood schedule, but travel vaccines are generally obtained privately, for example at GibMed's Vaccines and Travel Clinic. Yellow fever vaccine can only be given at a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre, so confirm designation with the clinic before booking.
Detailed answer
GHA immunisations
Gibraltar follows a UK-style schedule. Childhood vaccines are free through the GHA, and adult vaccines such as flu are offered to eligible groups. Ask your GP (200 52441).
Travel vaccines
Generally provided privately. GibMed International Hospital (ICC Building, Casemates Square, +350 200 49999) runs a Vaccines and Travel Clinic offering destination advice, most travel vaccines, a vaccination record booklet and anti-malarial prescriptions.
Yellow fever
Only a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre can give the vaccine and issue the ICVP certificate. Confirm designation before booking. Otherwise, Spain's Centros de Vacunación Internacional offer it by appointment.
Plan ahead
- Book 6 to 8 weeks before travel.
- The yellow fever certificate becomes valid 10 days after vaccination.
