The GHA provides dental treatment for children only; registered adults can be seen for emergency treatment alone. Routine adult dentistry, including check-ups, fillings, crowns and hygiene, is provided by private dental practices.
GHA dental service: under the Group Practice Medical Scheme, dental treatment is available to children. Registered adults may be seen by the GHA for emergency dental treatment only.
Adults: check-ups, fillings, crowns, root canals, hygiene appointments and cosmetic work are provided by private dental practices in Gibraltar and paid for directly or through dental insurance. Many residents also use dentists in Spain.
Dental pain outside hours: for a dental emergency, contact the GHA. Serious facial swelling, trauma or uncontrolled bleeding should be treated as a medical emergency: call 999 or attend A&E at St Bernard's Hospital.
